The resulting map could give Louisiana <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/republicans\">Republicans<\/a> a 5-1 congressional majority.<\/p>\n<p>The supreme court\u2019s recent decision in Louisiana v Callais, a case that centered on the state\u2019s congressional maps, severely weakened the Voting Rights Act (VRA).
