Thomas Massie faces from Trump-backed Ed candidate Ed Gallrein. Recent GOP primaries in Indiana and Louisiana have shown that Republican voters are willing to push out incumbents in their own party who Trump considers disloyal.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Democrats are setting their sights on November with the hopes of flipping Republican-held seats. And their primaries will shed light on the issues that are motivating Democratic voters. Primaries for 1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th congressional districts have been rescheduled. Primaries for the 3rd, 4th and 5th Congressional Districts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbhm.org\/local-news\/2026-05-18\/what-to-expect-in-alabamas-primaries\" target=\"_blank\">will continue as planned.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The primaries will also help to decide who will replace term limited Gov. Kay Ivey (R).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alabama resources:<\/strong> <br \/>\ud83d\udcca <strong>Results: : <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.npr.org\/primary-election-results-2026\/states\/AL.html\" target=\"_blank\">Head here<\/a> for full results starting Tuesday evening<\/p>\n<div class=\"hr\">\n<hr>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"edTag\" id=\"georgia\">In Georgia, Republicans dominate spending and Democrats drive record turnout<\/h2>\n<p>Tuesday&#8217;s primary elections in Georgia have been defined by record-setting fundraising, contentious Republican primaries and turnout driven by Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2026\/05\/18\/nx-s1-5822479\/2026-midterms-georgia-primary-election\">top races are likely to head to runoffs<\/a>, including the Republican race to face incumbent Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff in one of the most competitive U.S. Senate races in the country. Democrats and Republicans will also pick their nominees to replace term-limited Republican Gov. Mitch McConnell and the true meaning of MAGA<\/h2>\n<p>In Kentucky, the crowded primary of Democrats trying to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lpm.org\/news\/2026-05-13\/meet-the-kentucky-democrats-who-think-they-can-flip-mcconnells-senate-seat\" target=\"_blank\">flip Sen. Mitch McConnell&#8217;s seat<\/a> are squaring off. As Louisville Public Media&#8217;s Sylvia Goodman explains a Democrat has not represented the state in the U.S. Senate in over 25 years.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the race to see who will replace Sen. As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opb.org\/article\/2026\/04\/27\/oregon-politics-primary-election-governor-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\">OPB&#8217;s Dirk VanderHart reports<\/a>, due to the state&#8217;s closed primary system, &#8220;a plurality of the state&#8217;s registered voters will have no say in those contests until the November general election.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Gov.
