It is one of France’s most beautiful and most embattled castles. The Chateau de Chambord in central France is crumbling. The renaissance structure is rife with holes, cracks and moisture. Renovation works are underway in the Francois I Wing but the massive project to restore the chateau is estimated to cost €37 million.

I can’t believe the Chateau de Chambord is in such bad shape—€37 million for restoration is a huge sum, but you can’t let a UNESCO site like that fall apart.
