It’s interesting that Clark mentions Iran’s two navies but doesn’t explain how the IRGC and Artesh coordinate submarine operations. Are the midget subs actually combat-ready or just showpieces?
Iran’s small subs might be more of a nuisance than a real threat, but if they can lay mines or target tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, that’s still a big concern for global oil shipments.

Clark downplays the subs, but don’t forget the Houthis used similar small boats against Saudi tankers. Asymmetric threats are real, especially in the Gulf.
