As the world saw with COVID-19, the only thing that spreads faster than a virus is misinformation, and Hantavirus is no exception. Despite only a few confirmed cases, conspiracy theories have swirled on social media falsely claiming Hantavirus is a planned pandemic, or a ploy to disrupt the US midterm elections. Others alleged it’s a “bioweapon” created by big pharma to “poison” people or even that it’s a side effect of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

It’s wild how people are already claiming Hantavirus is a bioweapon from Big Pharma when there are only a few confirmed cases. Reminds me of the early COVID days.

The idea that Hantavirus is a side effect of the Pfizer vaccine is just absurd. There’s zero scientific evidence linking the two.

So now a rare virus with a handful of cases is supposedly a plot to disrupt the midterms? Some folks really need to step away from social media.
Interesting how quickly misinformation spreads—one minute it’s about election interference, next it’s a pharma conspiracy. Can’t we just look at the actual data on Hantavirus?
I get being skeptical of big pharma, but the claim that Hantavirus is a planned pandemic is just fearmongering. Let’s stick to the facts from health officials.
