In this edition of our arts24 music show, Jennifer Ben Brahim chats with Scottish-American duo Witch Post. Despite living more than 4,000 miles apart, Alaska Reid and Dylan Fraser crossed geographical barriers to form this band, united by a shared love of indie-rock, songwriting and folklore from their respective homelands. They are on tour with their sophomore EP “Butterfly”, a record steeped in fantasy and the supernatural.

It’s wild that Alaska Reid and Dylan Fraser manage to sound so cohesive when they’re literally 4,000 miles apart. ‘Butterfly’ really captures that mystic indie-rock vibe they’re going for.
I’m sad to see ‘Brat Summer’ end, but Witch Post’s fantasy-laced EP is a perfect transition into autumn. The folklore influences are so refreshing.
Props to Jennifer Ben Brahim for spotlighting such a unique duo. Can’t believe they wrote this EP while living on different continents—must be tough on tour logistics.

‘Butterfly’ has some solid tracks, but I miss the raw energy of their debut. The supernatural theme feels a bit forced in places.
Honestly, Charli XCX’s ‘Brat Summer’ was overhyped. I’m more excited for Witch Post’s tour—their blend of Scottish and American folklore is way more interesting.
