A French woman repatriated from the cruise ship struck by hantavirus is in intensive care and being treated with an artificial lung, doctors at a Paris hospital said Tuesday as the country’s health minister said there was “no evidence” of widespread circulation of the rare virus.

My thoughts are with that poor woman on the artificial lung — hantavirus is no joke. I hope the health minister is right that it won’t spread widely.
So one person is critically ill after that cruise ship outbreak, but the minister says no evidence of wider circulation. Let’s hope they’re monitoring the other passengers closely.
Screening guidelines seem to change every few years which creates confusion. (dc9fa5)
An artificial lung? That’s serious. I wonder how she got infected — was it from rodents on the ship or during a port stop?
Hantavirus is scary because it can take weeks to show symptoms. I hope the French health authorities are testing everyone who was on that cruise.
